Expense MapThe essentials
Your expenses, drafts, receipt originals, voice transcripts, and settings are stored in the app's local library. Jenny Media LLC does not run an expense-data server, advertising network, analytics SDK, or third-party AI service for this app. The app does not track your movements in the background.
Photos, receipts, and voice
You choose which receipt photos to capture, select, or share. The app keeps selected originals so you can review or reprocess them. Text recognition on receipt images runs on your device. Voice recognition runs on your device and keeps an editable transcript; the audio recording is not retained. The app does not scan your photo library automatically.
Expense interpretation
Apple AI can suggest expense fields from typed or spoken notes, recognized receipt text, and your edit instructions. It can also suggest CSV column mappings. On-device processing is used when available. If you allow Apple's Private Cloud Compute in setup or Settings → Apple AI, the app may send these texts, date and currency context, time zone and device region, and category and tag names to Apple's service when local processing cannot finish. Receipt images, microphone audio, and your full expense library are not sent. Suggestions remain editable; capture and import results require your review.
CSV mapping samples
AI mapping can receive CSV headers and up to six representative source rows, including columns you do not import. Each sampled cell is limited to 100 characters, and the source sample is limited to 4 KB. With Apple's Private Cloud Compute disabled, AI mapping uses only on-device processing when available; you can always map columns manually.
Places and location
If place matching is enabled, Expense Map may send a printed receipt address or a place mentioned in a note to Apple Maps to find a location. Searching Apple Maps sends the query you enter. Viewing a map loads map resources. Optional device-location access can fill a missing location on a new capture when iOS grants permission; it can be changed or removed later. The app does not collect a background movement history.
iCloud, rates, and exports
iCloud synchronization is optional. When you enable it, accepted expenses and related records can be stored in your private CloudKit database under your Apple account. Disabling sync keeps local records and does not automatically erase an existing cloud copy. If you request a historical exchange rate, the app uses Frankfurter reference rates or the European Central Bank feed. Frankfurter requests include the selected currency pair and date range; they do not include expense amounts, merchants, notes or receipt images. These services also receive normal network information such as your IP address. Backups and exports go to the destination you choose through Apple's file and sharing controls. Portable archives are not password encrypted, so store them carefully.
Demo and beta testing
The fictional demo library is separate from your personal library. If you install a beta through TestFlight, Apple may process beta diagnostics or feedback you choose to submit under its TestFlight terms.
Feedback and support
When you choose Send feedback, an editable email draft includes the app version, build number, and iOS version. Nothing is sent until you send the email. We receive your email address and the message or attachments you choose to share so we can respond. Expenses, receipt originals, and diagnostic logs are not attached automatically.
This website
This website has no advertising, analytics scripts, tracking pixels, or non-essential cookies. It loads its fonts and screenshot viewer from this site. If you choose light or dark appearance, that preference is saved in your browser's local storage. The “Use system appearance” control removes it. Our hosting provider may process normal request information such as IP address, browser details, and request time to deliver and protect the site.
Your choices and questions
You can change model, place-matching, location, and sync settings in the app. Use the app's export and deletion controls to manage your library. For a privacy question, email expense-map@jenny.media or visit support. We will update this page when the app's data practices materially change.
